1st day
Pick up time from your hotel in Khao Lak is 08.00 a.m. starting for Krabi, we pass the most picturesque countryside of the Phang Nga Province. After a coffee break we continue our tour to Wat Tam Sua, the Tiger Cave Temple. Besides interesting cultural aspects, a marvelous jungle valley is waiting for us. In midst a circle of steep and bizarre lime stone mountains we walk through a nearly untouched forest, which is rich of giant, old trees, most of them more than 800 and even 1000 years old. Monks of the nearby Wat often come here for meditation in small huts or caves and grottos, which can be seen now and then in the shadowy parts of the forest or the steep walls of the limestones.
After lunch, which we will have in a nice restaurant in Krabi Town, we continue our tour to Sa Morakot, which means „Emerald Pond“. On a plank way we cross a swampy forest, which enjoys us with its richness of different plants, especially of beautiful palm trees. At last we reach a small pond, the emerald color of which gave the name to the whole place. Here we can take a bath, relax and enjoy the beautiful nature around. Later we return to our bus and go to Trang for checking in Thumrin Than Hotel. Until we meet for our dinner at about 19.30 p.m. we have time to relax.
2nd day
Today we start already at 07.30 am for Phattalung. On the way we visit Wat Tam Sumano, a cave temple, in which people can exercise and meditate. The vast cave with its big lustres and plenty of Buddha statues is very impressive. From here we continue our tour to the „Tale Noi“, the „Little Lake“, which enjoys us with thousands of Lotus Flowers in full bloom. Depending on the species, the colors of these flowers range from a pure white to deep purple. We should reach the lake before 10.00 a.m., because many of the flowers will already close after this time. By a longtail boat we cross the lake, now and then switching off the motor to enjoy the beautiful colors and the silence and to watch the water birds living at this lake.
From Tale Noi we start for Nakhon Si Thammarat, taking our lunch in a stylish restaurant somewhere at the roadside. Reaching Nakhon Si Thammarat, we first visit the Wat Phra Mahatat, one of the most important temples of South Thailand. It was founded by Buddhist monks from Sri Lanka, who came to this place about 1500 years ago. In the 7 th. Century they built a 77 m high Pagoda, which still houses the relics of Lord Buddha. Thereafter we visit the famous „Suchart House“, the owner of which is one of the last manufacturers of shadow puppets in South Thailand. He will demonstrate how to make a shadow puppet out of a piece of buffalo skin, and he will also show us a short play. Thereafter we will check in the Twin Lotus Hotel. The evening will be at your free disposal.
3rd day
About 08.00 a.m. we will start for the southern part of the Khao Luang Mountain Range, where we will visit the village of Khiriwong, which is famous for its ecological way of agriculture for about already 200 years. The villagers never cut down the rainforest, but used natural gaps to plant their fruit trees. In consequence, you will find a unique mixture of rain forest and fruit plantation. Since the villagers do not use any chemical pest control or fertilizers as well, the fruits are of a quite different quality as those you will buy in Bangkok or elsewhere upcountry. Since only native guides know the ways how to reach interesting places, we walk, guided by one of them, along a wild and beautiful river through hilly jungles and fruit gardens, always enjoying the grand scenery around us. Lunch will be prepared and served by our Thai guides by the river side, while we have the chance to take a bath in the clear water of the river. After lunch we can either stay at the lunch place or try to reach (together with the Thai guide) an unnamed waterfall not far away.
About 05.00 p.m. we will be back at Khiriwong, where we can again relax a little bit before we take part in a home stay dinner with a Thai family of Khiriwong. Between 08.00 and 09.00 p.m. we will be back in the Twin Lotus Hotel in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
4th day
After breakfast, about 08.00 a.m. we start for the northern part of the Khao Luang National Park, where we will walk for about 2 hours to reach the Krung Ching Waterfall. We will find our way through thick rain forest, which is rich of different plants and animals. The trail is very interesting but not difficult to walk. Lunch will be served in the restaurant of the National Park from where we start afterwards for rafting on one oft the wild and picturesque rivers of the Khao Luang. We reach the place where we start the rafting by going by a Pickup through the jungle. After about 10 minutes of riding by car, we start our boat trip and for the next 45 minutes we will admire the grand rainforest scenery about us.
After this unforgettable experience we will go for our hotel, but on the way we will visit the scenic Ai Khieo Waterfall, which is also part of the Khao Luang National Park. Who likes to refresh himself beneath one of the numerous cascades, will get a chance to do it here.
Dinner will be served in our hotel.
5th day
Again, we will leave the hotel at about 08.00 a.m. to undertake a half day trekking tour in Khiriwong. Our native guide will bring us to another nameless waterfall, many of which can be visited in this part of the Khao Luang Range. Our lunch will be served in a small restaurant at the riverside in Khiriwong, in which village we also visit some OTOP shops, which are famous for their natural products as batik clothes, items made from coconut shell or herbal products like creams, body lotions and different kinds of soap.
The official part of the tour will end at about 02.00 p.m.
