Phang Nga Temple & Caves
We drive along the country roads of Phang Nga Province to our first stop at “Wat Tam Nakarat” (wat: temple; tam: cave; Nakarat: mythical sea creature).
The amazing limestone caves contain several ancient Buddha statues which can be reached only by climbing steep staircases and ladders. The next highlight is the Pagoda Temple, Wat Bang Riang, situated on a hill with a Buddha park and an amazing view all over Phang Nga Bay. Around noon we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch near the mangrove forest, before continuing our tour to Phang Nga Town, where we will explore the “Phung Chang Cave” by canoe and bamboo raft.
Impressive stalactites and stalagmites can be seen here. The hill where this cave can be found is shaped like an elephant with a big belly when viewed from a distance. Thus the cave was named after this phenomenon (phung : belly; chang : elephant). On the way back to Khao Lak we visit the Lampi waterfall at Thaimuang National Park for relaxing and swimming. Then we stop at the Sea Turtle Breeding Center , to see young turtle and how they get take care.
