1st day
8.00 a.m. start from your hotel in Khao Lak to Phang Nga Town. Here we visit the Phung Chang Cave (Elephant stomach), the entrance of which is at the foot of a mountain, which looks like a sitting elephant. For about one hour we explore this fascinating stalactite cavern by boat and bamboo raft and enjoy the marvelous stalagmites and stalactites. Thereafter we visit the famous Chedi Wat Bang Riang, which preserves a tooth of Lord Buddha. The temple is situated on top of a hill, surrounded by a Buddha park with monumental statues. From the temple you have a wonderful view over the whole Phang Nga Bay. From here we turn to Krabi where we will have lunch in the Nature-Restaurant Ruan Mai. After lunch we visit a natural wonder, the „Emerald Pond“. On small paths and plank ways we cross a swampy evergreen jungle with a fascinating richness of plants. Especially the many different palm trees will enjoy every nature lover. At last we reach a small lake, which invites you with its clear water for a refreshing bath. The emerald green color is responsible for the name of this beautiful place. Our next destination is the „Tiger Cave Temple“ in Krabi. But it is not only the temple with its interesting Buddha statues but a small valley nearby, which seems nearly untouched by civilizations. Surrounded by steep limestone cliffs we walk through a unique relic of Primary Rain Forest with huge trees up to 60 m tall. Some of them are more than 1.000 years old. Only small huts of monks, who come here for meditation, give evidence of human presence.
We stay overnight in the City of Krabi, where we also take our dinner.
2nd day
We start at 8.00 a.m. (after breakfast) and go directly to Suratthani. On the way we will stop at a hot spring, where you can take a bath and/or watch local people making handicrafts (OTOP products). Our next destination will be the unique monkey school of Kanchanadhit, where macaque monkeys are trained to collect the coconuts from the trees. Lunch will be served at the riverside of the Tapi River in Suratthani. After lunch we start for a 1.5 hour long tail boat river cruise on the Tapi and its klongs, where we can study the nature and the people living along the rivers. Thereafter you will check in at city hotel, where you can take a rest until we start (at about 6.00 p.m.) for a home stay dinner by the Tapi River. If you like, you can watch or assist your hosts while preparing the dinner. At about 7.30 p.m. we start for another river cruise, during which you will enjoy millions of fireflies dancing around the mangrove trees. This will be an unforgettable „night safari“. From the darkness of the river we then turn to the brightly illuminated city of Suratthani, where the official program of this day ends at about 9.00 p.m. But of course, you may stay longer and enjoy the nightlife of the city by your own.
3rd day
At 8.00 a.m. (after breakfast) we start for the „Cheow Lan Lake“, which belongs to the Khao Sok National Park and which is famous for its bizarre limestone mountains. During a 70 minutes ride with a long tail boat, you will get an unforgettable impression of the overwhelming panorama of this unique countryside. Somewhere ashore we start for a one hour walk through the forest. The trail is easy to go and ends at the raft house of another small lake. From the raft house we go by a motorized bamboo raft to the opposite shore, where we climb up a slope and enter a small but beautiful stalactite cavern. The name of this cave is „Pakarang Cave“, which means „Coral Cave“. After exploring this small but very beautiful cave we start back for the boat, which brings us to an original floating restaurant on the lake, where we will have our lunch. After lunch, there is time enough to take a refreshing bath in the lake before we start for our next destination, the Khao Sok Cliff & River Resort. We will stay overnight in this picturesque resort, the bungalows and the swimming pool of which are situated on a slope from where you have a wonderful view on the river and the nearby limestone cliff. Since the dinner will not be served before 7.30 p.m. in the restaurant at the riverside, there is time enough to take a refreshing bath in the swimming pool or to relax on the large veranda of your chalet.
4th day
At 8.00 a.m. we start from the Cliff & River Resort to a canoe tour on the Khao Sok River. We stop at a small temple and cave besides the Khao Sok River, from where we start our river cruise and for one and a half hour you will enjoy the beautiful countryside with its bizarre limestone hills and evergreen jungles. Thereafter, in Khao Sok we will visit a typical school, where you have the chance to inform yourself about education in Thailand by talking to teachers and pupils as well. Then we will visit a farm with different fruit trees as Longkon, Rambutan and Mangosteen, and following a small path we at last will find ourselves in a relic of primary jungle with thorny rattan palms and many other interesting plants as gingers and orchids. Our experienced guide will show you all the richness of this wonderful and interesting lowland rainforest. Lunch will be served in the „Thai Herb Restaurant“, which is surrounded by colorful gardens. In the afternoon we slowly drive back to Khao Lak, crossing a steep mountain range from which we have fascinating views over the Khao Sok Valley.
