Infos about Khao Lak

Khao Lak is part of the Province of Phang Nga and is situated about 90 km north of the International Airport of Phuket and about 170 km south of Ranong. Khao Lak was discovered as a tourist destination only a few years ago. It attracts its charm and beauty from the long sandy beaches, backed by a green hill range, which is covered with thick rainforests and farmland.

Moreover Khao Lak shows some exceptions, which are extraordinary for Thailand!

At all beaches are any kind of aquatic sport is forbidden: No jet-skiing, no paragliding, no bananaboats and also no discos, no go-go bars, no beer bars or similar entertainment! All beaches are quiet places, just for people who like to relax and feel well.

Khao Lak shows a steadily growing demand in popularity not only among divers, snorkelers and nature lovers, but also among families with children and elder people, who like to escape the rough winter months of Europe.

The beautiful long beaches of Khao Lak

More than 20 km the Khao Lak Beach extends from the village (baan) of Khao Lak, (from which the beach derives its name) to Namkem, showing bigger and smaller rocky parts now and then, lagoons, belts of Kasuarina Trees, Coconut Palm Trees and many more exotic plants. The sand of the beach changes its colour from a feint golden hue in the southern parts to a pure white in the north.
