River & Lake Impression - 2 days

1st day
Pick up from hotel in Khao Lak and passing Khao Sok to Surathani. On the way you will see the beautiful countryside of Khao Sok. The area before we arrive Surathani, is not developed for tourists and a natural site, quite different from tourist places. On our first stop, we visit an unknown temple with old Buddha sculptures and wall paintings going back to the Sukkothai Period, about 800 years ago. Behind this temple we walk through an interesting cave.
After lunch by the river at Surathani, we discover the Tapi River and its canals by long tail boat. We will see untouched nature and local life, on the way we stop at a monkey school, where monkeys learn how to collect coconuts. After this we visit a typical fresh market in the city. Now we check in at a city hotel, close to the river. Time for relax. During sunset we visit a local family, living by the river. We will enjoy the home stay dinner, prepared by the gentle Thai ladies. After dinner, we take a long tail boat ride, to watch millions of fireflies along the river banks. End of tour around 9 pm.
2nd day
After breakfast, we drive to the „Cheow Lan Lake“ which is part of the Khao Sok National Park. The surroundings of the lake offer exciting views on mountains, lime stones and jungle. After a 70 min. long tail boat ride with a fantastic view to the lake surroundings, we will arrive at a ranger station. From here we start for jungle trekking. After 1 hour, we arrive at a little lake, which we cross by a bamboo raft. Then, after a short walk, we reach the entrance of the Pakarang Cave. Now we start to discover the cave with head lamps. Inside we will see columns, stalagmites, stalactites and calcite ponds. Lunch at the Ranger Station and time for swimming. By long tail boat back to the dam and return to Khao Lak.
